The Wey Tank 300 is a techier and more affordable Jeep Wrangler

In a world that is leaving the ladder-frame chassis behind, comes the Wey Tank 300. Yes, it’s literally called a tank, and yes, it is Great Wall Motor’s latest effort to jump into the Jeep-like SUV market that seats 7. First unveiled back in July, the Wey Tank 300 has captured the attention for its ladder-frame chassis and muscular design. Painted in orange here and paired with chunky fenders, you see shadows of the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco only with attached doors. Of course, that depends

Video: Jeep Wrangler rolled over onto its side after hitting barrier in crash test

IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) is an independent, nonprofit organization funded by insurance companies based in the US. In their latest driver-side small overlap frontal crash test, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4-door tipped over onto its side after hitting the barrier. Fiat Chrysler questioned the IIHS on the method of testing after the Wrangler tipped over in the test, and the IIHS agreed to conduct another test using another method which Fiat Chrysler themselves approved. 2021 Ford Bronco to launch on 13 July, fights Jeep lineup

In the lead-up to its 13-July launch, Ford has released information about the upcoming Bronco. This time, it goes beyond just a model in its lineup - the Bronco is now a brand of its own, much like how Jeep is to Chrysler and RAM is to Dodge. Competing against the top-selling Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee models, the new Bronco range features a two-door, a brand new four-door and a smaller Bronco Sport model. Positioned as ‘Built Wild’, the models hark back to the original 1966 Bronco, with a stron

Why did Suzuki, Jeep and these 8 brands say "Bye bye Malaysia"?

Looking at our WapCar car list, we have 35 car brands in Malaysia. Other sites might have posted more but even so, that’s quite a lot. Yet, there are some complaints that we have so few brands being represented here. To be honest, the Malaysian automotive market is pretty small in comparison to some of our neighbours. There’s also the fact that it might be difficult to convince Malaysian buyers to buy something different from the norm. It doesn’t matter if the brand has a cool car in its line-up

2021 Ford Bronco looks set to wrangle the competition

Finally, the 2021 Ford Bronco has been unleashed to the world. This after years of teasing, a retro concept car, and a police chase that made it more famous than it could have ever been. Apart from being the media sensation from a certain trial of the century, the Bronco was Ford’s capable 4x4 that could conquer anywhere and everywhere. The latest one seems ready to pick up what the other iconic horse of Ford’s stable had left off. The 2021 Bronco is available in three variants, the classic 2-do

The CEO who killed the Ford Focus, Fiesta and Mondeo is stepping down, replaced by ex-Toyota man

Jim Hackett announced today that he is stepping down as CEO of Ford Motor Company, barely three years on the job. Formerly a CEO at office furniture manufacturer Steelcase, he succeeded ex-Mazda man Mark Fields at Ford. Hackett’s tenure at Ford was rocky. He had no experience with the automotive business but Executive Chairman Bill Ford was eager to have someone outside the company to transform the highly-traditional Ford. The results weren’t good, which probably explains his earlier-than-expect

Haval Big Dog is the puppy sent to bark at Jeep

There are many ways a manufacturer can go about naming a car, they can either go unoriginal i.e. One, or they can play it save and name it after a location like Kona, Tucson and Sedona. Or they can do it like Haval who literally named their rugged new SUV Haval Big Dog. We’re not joking, it’s a direct translation of the Chinese name. If you think that the name Big Dog is amusing, Haval further amps up the humour with the variant names for the SUV. The base spec Big Dog is known as the Husky vari

Who makes 2020's most reliable cars? What’s the 10 best car brands to buy from?

What’s the most reliable car brand? What brand should your next car be? Depending on who you ask, you will get different answers, depending on how they choose to make their assessment. If you were to ask the Americans at Consumer Reports, the best brands to buy are Porsche, Genesis, Subaru, Mazda, and Lexus, in that order. Something is clearly not right when a brand like Porsche tops the list of a consumer-friendly buying guide so take this with a pinch of salt. But Consumer Reports is not wrong

The first Mitsubishi Pajero - from Paris Dakar Rally champ to progenitor of family SUVs

There was a time when SUVs weren’t a big thing and were more of a utilitarian 4x4 than a trending crossover. None matches the bulletproof and macho 4x4 quite like the Mitsubishi Pajero, Isuzu Trooper, and the Toyota Land Cruiser. Out of those three, only the Land Cruiser managed to survive today with the Trooper being trooped out many years ago and the Pajero being discontinued in 2020. We’ve done a sort of eulogy for the Pajero but today, we’re celebrating the very first Pajero and how it came

The price of the 2020 Kia Grand Carnival with 11 seats has been revealed to be RM 175,088 on the road without insurance. VW e-Beetle trademarked, iconic model to return as an EV?

A member of the VWIDTalk forum recently found evidence that Volkswagen has reserved the European trademarks for the name e-Beetle as well as other air-cooled era classics. Along with the e-Beetle, VW has also reserved e-Samba along with e-Karmann and the e-Kubel. But you must be thinking, VW already has an ID brand for their EV range,

If you’re a fan of Mitsubishi and 4x4s, you are probably saddened by news of Mitsubishi announcing the end of production of the Pajero in 2021.
