Electric parking brake vs manual hand brake vs foot brake, which is better?

Parking brake is a safety mechanism that prevents a stationary car from rolling away. Parking brake is also commonly referred to handbrake because of its hand-operated lever. However, there are also different types of parking brake such as foot-operated pedal (footbrake) as well as the increasingly common electric parking brake (EPB). Each of these parking brakes has its benefits, but which is the best? First, we will explain how each parking brake works. The manual handbrake and footbrake work

Brake disc rust - Is it dangerous? What should you do about it?

If you have a car that’s been parked for a little bit too long, you will start to notice rust forming on the brake discs/rotors. Our Ativa’s rattling sound is fixed! What was the problem? - Long-term review #6

It has been about two weeks of ownership with our Perodua Ativa. How have things been? Well, the rattling sound we mentioned previously had gotten really annoying. Every time we drove over abrupt irregularities on the right side, the sound became more and more apparent. We needed to take the Ativa to Sepang on Tuesday to check out some Malaysian-made electric car, so we held off going to the service centre until Wednesday. About two weeks of driving with that sound, we finally checked in at the

No GR Yaris, no problem - maybe a GR Perodua Myvi is what Malaysians need

The Internet is a wonderful place for rumour mills (remember the hullabaloo surrounding the Proton X50?) All one needs is to put in a photo, and boom, people will start talking about it. Which is what we saw happen when Toyota Malaysia teased the GR Yaris. People went crazy over it, and that's fair - it's an exciting car, but not expected to be cheap. But if you really need some Gazoo Racing flavour, maybe this can inspire you. GR Perodua Myvi? Enter the 'GR Perodua Myvi'. Rendered by Mr. Kuruma

Why the Perodua Myvi continues to struggle in export markets?

Before you brush this off as yet another criticism against our own domestic products, let us make it clear that the Perodua Myvi is probably the best point A to point B car on sale right now. As a daily car, the Perodua Myvi is close to perfection. It does its job so well that it’s quite hard to justify paying more for a Honda Jazz – does the Jazz have a built-in Smart Tag, or AEB? Guessed so. The Honda Jazz’s Ultra Seats is nice to have but how often do you even fold the rear seats? So what’s t

If you’ve ever car-pooled with a Perodua Myvi Advance owner you would be left in awe of their ability to go through tolls without needing to lift a finger. The built-in SmartTag reader is the most thoughtful device ever to be included in a car and it has further given the Myvi a huge lead as the best value-for-money car in our market. I know what you’re thinking, when you purchase a SmartTag device, we were given a holder to attach the device to our screens. But the trend of breaking wind shield

Someone double parked and blocked you? No problem

All it took was 7 minutes and a group of Malaysians to lift a Toyota Wish that double parked and blocked a Perodua Myvi from coming out of its parking space. From the video, it appears that the Myvi driver got the attention of one passerby, who later got more help from other passersby. Amazingly, the group of men found lifts to lift the Toyota Wish and repositioned the MPV, allowing the Myvi to exit. Watch the full video here.
