Last week, we shared a quick front-end spyshot of the 2021 Nissan Navara, and this week we bring you clearer pictures of the upcoming pickup truck. In these set of photos by an Instagram source, we can see that the new Navara wears Nissan's 'V-motion' family face very well, with its large chrome grille and revised front fascia. The back also looks a touch more upmarket and modern, courtesy of a cleaner rear bumper and LED tail lamps. Still no word on powertrain, but changes shouldn't be too much

Mitsubishi Triton overtakes Ford Ranger to become Malaysia’s No.2 best-selling pick-up truck

The Mitsubishi Triton has overtaken the Ford Ranger as Malaysia’s second best-selling pick-up, as of October 2019, according to brief business update by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia earlier today. Both models still trail behind the Toyota Hilux, which is holding strongly onto its top spot. The Malaysia Automotive Association no longer provides sales breakdown by model due to compliance issues with Malaysia’s Competition Act 2010 so we don’t know the exact volume sold. However sources tell us that

Watch: Styrofoam box skilfully bounces back into the truck bed

While parcels and boxes falling out of truck beds are rather common occurrences, a box falling out and then somehow managing to bounce back into the truck is a rare sight indeed. This road user encountered a very interesting scene when driving on a bridge. As you can see, a Styrofoam box fell out of the truck ahead and skilfully bounce its way back into the truck, not just once but multiple times! And it looked like the box continued its adventures bouncing back into the truck even after the vid

Was the Proton Exora pick-up truck a huge missed opportunity?

The Proton Exora, like the current X70, is one of the company’s “why didn’t we build these earlier” moments. For a country with big families and sophisticated tastes, the business case for an MPV almost seemed like a no brainer from the start. Instead, Proton busied themselves with that rolling-tower block on coasters, the Juara. It comes as no surprise that the Exora became a lucrative cash-cow, staying in the market for 11 years and counting. Yes, the Exora’s longevity and popularity might be

Spied! Hyundai’s first pick-up truck testing on the road

Talk of Hyundai’s first ever pick-up truck, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, started since 2015 when the brand displayed the concept pick-up at the Detroit Motor Show. Hyundai has already tested the truck in snow previously, now photos of the truck being subjected to road tests have surfaced. What we know so far: the Santa Cruz was built on the Hyundai Tucson platform with an extended wheelbase hence why the pick-up’s codename NX4 OB is similar to the Tucson, NX4. This puts the Santa Cruz in the same seg

Indo-made Hyundai truck coming to Malaysia in 2023 to fight Toyota Hilux

After decades of sitting out on the pick-up truck market, Hyundai is planning to launch not one but two pick-up trucks for international markets. The first will be a full-size truck aimed at the North American market, competing against the Ford F-150. This model will be based on the Santa Cruz concept. However, it is not relevant to our market. Instead, we will be getting a smaller mid-size pick-up truck, the sort of trucks that’s popular in our part of the world, a market that’s dominated by th

The Toyota Hilux is 52 - here's the history behind Japan's iconic pick-up truck

Fifty years is more than enough time for a carmaker to introduce a model, facelift it a couple of times, kill it and then bring it back as a crossover or whatever's trendy. Not many can say they 'remained true to the original', but the Toyota Hilux certainly can. Cars evolve all the time (see above). It's quite a feat if a carmaker manages to stay true to its original recipe yet continue to improve, and that's pretty much what the Hailak has achieved in 52 years. Before Toyota Hilux Interestingl

This Daihatsu Hijet is transformed from pasar malam truck to kawaii camper!

Have you imagined just leaving the city and… Wait, that’s not appropriate in times of MCO. So, let’s change the subject real quick to this Daihatsu Hijet camper truck. Some fans may recognise the Hijet name from those pasar malam vans but did you know that this nameplate turned 60? Yup, the first Hijet was introduced in 1960 as Daihatsu’s first four-wheeled vehicle following the three-wheeled Midget. Needless to say, it went on to be very successful and is still sold in Japan. In Brief: Mitsubishi Triton VGT Adventure X – Best handling pickup truck?

The Mitsubishi Triton VGT Adventure X is the only pickup truck with a centre LSD. That’s the mechanical highlight of the Adventure X. With the transfer case set to 4H, it can drive like a full-time 4WD and not just a part-time 4WD (no centre LSD). The Triton has the shortest wheelbase in its class, making it the easiest to manoeuvre among its rivals. The ride comfort is also decent. If judged mechanically, the only reason to get the Adventure X over other variants of the Triton is the centre dif
