If there was a segment we haven’t seen much of electric cars in, it would be the MPV/van body-type. Ford Ranger is Vietnam’s best-selling car in March 2021, outsells Hilux nearly 4.5 times!

You’re not reading the headline wrongly. The Ford Ranger is indeed the best-selling car in Vietnam for the month of March with 2,171 units sold. That is slightly more than the second best-seller, the Hyundai Accent (2,094 units). In fact, the Ford Ranger has been dominating pick-up sales in the country so far with a combined total of 3,873 units sold during the first 3 months of 2021. March was definitely a month of madness for the Blue Oval as the Ranger took nearly 75% market share in the pick

Why did Suzuki, Jeep and these 8 brands say "Bye bye Malaysia"?

Looking at our WapCar car list, we have 35 car brands in Malaysia. Other sites might have posted more but even so, that’s quite a lot. Yet, there are some complaints that we have so few brands being represented here. To be honest, the Malaysian automotive market is pretty small in comparison to some of our neighbours. There’s also the fact that it might be difficult to convince Malaysian buyers to buy something different from the norm. It doesn’t matter if the brand has a cool car in its line-up

Once poorer than Malaysia, how Korea’s car industry progressed further than ours?

Last week, we’ve chronicled how Hyundai grew from a small workshop to a world-class automaker. What was left out however, was the hows and the whys behind the rise of Korea’s car industry, which will be discussed in the following text. When Malaysia gained its independence, Korea was a failed state. It relied on donations from the US for 70 percent of its budget, and had nothing worth exporting. In 1960, Malaysia’s (Malaya) GDP per capita was USD 234. South Korea earned just USD 158 - poorer tha

Who said you can’t compare a Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a Toyota Camry?

The problem with Facebook’s newsfeed’s algorithms is that it feeds you what other like-minded people are seeing, rightly or wrongly. Worse, many see the comments section as a source of information. Very quickly, our society has become one that is fragmented into groups that speak only within each other’s echo chambers – each seeing what they want to see and hearing what they want to hear, with Facebook serving as a massive amplifier of confirmation biases. This is why fringe beliefs are becoming

Save up to RM 50k on a recond car or go for Certified Pre-Owned car?

When it comes to shopping for a car, terms like reconditioned cars and certified pre-owned (CPO) cars get tossed around a fair bit. On paper, both CPO and reconditioned (recond) cars are very similar – both are cheaper than a new car, allowing the buyer to save some money. But that’s where the similarities end, as they are world’s apart once you look closer. Recond cars – good on paper, but buyers beware While it may seem tempting to save RM 40k to RM 50k on a recond car versus a brand-new car,

Running in your new car, still relevant?

Running in (or breaking in) your new car is a standard practice that has been recommended by car manufacturers for the longest time. The task is simple – drive the car until the designated mileage set for the first service (anything from 1,000-2,000 km), but do not exceed 3,000-4,000 rpm to let all the mechanical bits ‘set in’. However, automotive technology have advanced tremendously in the automotive world, with manufacturers utilizing better quality materials for the mechanical bits, all in t

How often should you service your car?

Many people have different theories as to when they should service their cars. Some swears by the owner’s manual, others follow their gut feel. The latter, which we strongly advise against. First, let’s break down the science. A ‘regular service’ includes an engine oil change along with an inspection of all relevant components. There are many factors that affect the interval, or frequency, of your oil change process. Traditionally, it is recommended to change your oil every 5,000 km when using m
