The electric Proton Tiara was Citroën’s first production electric car

We’ve seen various attempts at innovation by Proton such as the Arena, Juara, and Savvy. As an automaker, Proton is actually quite young considering Hyundai was founded in 1967 and Volkswagen was founded pre-World War 2. Proton was founded in 1983. Now, one car you might remember from Proton is the Proton Tiara. It was an oddball since it was Proton’s only collaboration with a French automaker. The Tiara had a 1.1 L 4-cylinder engine that only made 57 PS of maximum power. The transmission was a

Proton’s electric dream of the past – Proton Iriz EV auctioned off

Back in 2015, Proton showcased an all-electric car – the Proton Iriz EV. Today, we were lucky enough to get a glimpse of some rather bizarre Proton cars being auctioned away. There were more than 10 Proton electric vehicles at the lot, but the best condition electric car would be the Proton Iriz EV. Five years ago, the Proton Preve and Proton Suprima were still in production, the Proton Persona was still based on the Gen2, Proton was 30 years old, and the thought of Proton making an SUV was absu

Mazda teases its first ever electric car ahead of Tokyo Motor Show

Hold on to your rotaries as Mazda has released an official teaser of their first ever electric car. We previously heard that Mazda was quietly testing an electric-powered CX-30 e-TPV (Electric Technology Prove-Out Vehicle) prototype. And while it was a quiet preview, there was barely any coverage when the car was touring around Oslo, Norway. From what little we can see of the video, it looks like the electrified Mazda will have a sloping roof and four doors. It will most probably adopt the same

Volvo goes full electric with the XC40

Volvo is stern in its direction towards the electric future with the introduction of the fully electric XC40. Going from combustion engines to electric is the biggest change yet in the history of the automobile. It means exhaust pipes or grille openings are things of the past, while the removal of combustion engine creates extra room for even more storage space under the bonnet. As such, the electric XC40 has a covered front grille in body colour as it needs less air flow for cooling purposes. T

Is the road tax actually cheaper for electric cars in Malaysia?

We’ve seen the launch of the Porsche Taycan and the MINI Cooper SE in Malaysia this year. They were surprisingly priced lower than our expectations. The MINI Cooper SE has a price tag of RM 218,380 and the Taycan 4S starts at RM 725,000. We did expect the MINI to be priced lower than the BMW i3s, but the Taycan is cheaper in Malaysia than it is in Thailand. The “low” price of these cars could be a result of the 10% excise tax on all electric cars as opposed to 60% to 105% for ICE cars. When we t

Normally, we don’t publish news on semi-trucks but this Geely electric semi-truck certainly pushes new elements to a design that was mostly restricted to high-rise blocks on wheels.
