Proton EVs for sale - including Proton EMAS and Saga EV!

Remember Proton's electric vehicle (EV) project? Today, we found out that Proton was putting up models such as the Proton Saga EV, Proton Iriz EV, and even the Proton EMAS concept car up for auction. This following last week's auction of historic concepts and prototypes. UPDATE: The Proton EMAS concept car has been withdrawn from the auction. Thumbs up to Proton! Proton Iriz 1.3 Turbo - The 6-speed, 142 PS hot hatch we never got

Amidst all the buzz surrounding last week’s Proton EV auction, there was one very interesting model. It was a turbocharged 1.3-litre Proton Iriz with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Proton Iriz is a formidable rival to the Perodua Myvi with great handling but hampered by the uninspired Punch CVT gearbox. While the Iriz is available with a manual transmission, the 95 PS 1.3-litre isn’t really hot hatch material and the 109 PS 1.6-litre manual variant has been discontinued for quite some time.

This construction of a highway in Egypt is only 50 cm away from residential buildings

We understand that city infrastructure planning is a very difficult task, each location will have a specific zone to avoid or things can easily go haywire. While Malaysia has its fair share of poor planning structures *coughs traffic jam coughs*, nothing can compare to this highway in Cairo, Egypt that is built only 50 cm away from the nearest residential buildings. When the MEX Highway project was announced, many residents of housing areas that the highway cuts through were dismayed by the news

Proton Satria Cabriolet - The curious convertible

Proton had auctioned off some of its concept prototypes and rally cars in an unprecedented move on its automotive history. Thankfully, some of them have been pulled out from the auction by Proton. Some of these prototypes and university creations probably deserved the scrap but there were some which should be preserved. Apart from the PERTs and the Petronas E01-powered cars, the one that stood out in the list was a pair of Satria Cabriolets. While the United Kingdom was the prime export market f

Things that surprised us in the 2020 Isuzu D-Max 1.9 Premium

As far as our jobs go, sometimes we will draw conclusions about a certain car purely on paper. Perhaps, by looking at the specifications, you'd give it no chance of impressing you from the start. I must admit, that was exactly what I did to the Isuzu D-Max 1.9 Premium when it turned up for a scrap with more impressive rivals (on paper). And as a consequence of such prejudice, I ended up with egg on my face. What was it then, that was so surprising about this Isuzu D-Max? 1.9-litre engine punched

Used car dealers in Malaysia experiencing record-high sales in July 2020

Looks like car manufacturers are not the only ones that are currently enjoying a surge in sales. According to the Federation of Motor and Credit Companies Association of Malaysia (FMCCAM) president Datuk Tony Khor, the surge in demand for used cars is so good that the scenario is “simply too good to believe”. Once poorer than Malaysia, how Korea’s car industry progressed further than ours?

Last week, we’ve chronicled how Hyundai grew from a small workshop to a world-class automaker. What was left out however, was the hows and the whys behind the rise of Korea’s car industry, which will be discussed in the following text. When Malaysia gained its independence, Korea was a failed state. It relied on donations from the US for 70 percent of its budget, and had nothing worth exporting. In 1960, Malaysia’s (Malaya) GDP per capita was USD 234. South Korea earned just USD 158 - poorer tha

Several locations in Penang and Sarawak have already recorded API (Air Pollution Index) readings of over 200 (very unhealthy). The reading in Kuching is inching closer to the hazardous level of 300. Haze is contributed by microscopic size particulate matter (PM) pollutants measuring no more than 2.5 micrometers. Ordinary air filters are ineffective against PM 2.5 pollutants, which is why the public are advised to
