Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift, currently with only one variant offered – GLA 200 – locally assembled (CKD), priced at RM 258,888 (OTR without insurance), that’s RM 4,000 more compared to before.
The company said that the GLA 250 will be added at a later point.
As seen in the global debut, the front fascia of the facelifted GLA boasts a redesigned radiator grille, accentuated by a central Mercedes-Benz star, a single louvre, and black accents.
Subtle power domes on the bonnet gives a more muscular look, while the revamped front bumper with visual underride protection underscores the vehicle's off-road capabilities. It gets LED High Performance front headlamps, featuring Adaptive Highbeam Assist, and LED taillights.
A diffuser-equipped rear bumper and a front apron with a silver underguard add a sporty touch to the exterior, complemented by the 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.
No changes under the bonnet, the GLA 200 features a 1.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with the 7G-DCT automatic transmission. With 163 PS and 250 Nm, the GLA 200 is claimed to achieve a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.9 seconds.
Inside the cabin, and just like the A-Class facelift, the most significant change would be the deletion of the touchpad, making room for a shallow storage compartment. There’s also a new steering wheel with capacitive buttons.
Elsewhere, it remains as before, with a dual-widescreen setup that measures 10.25 inches, which now runs on the latest generation of MBUX.
The telematics system has undergone a revision with a new design and improved performance that is claimed to ensure seamless connectivity. Smartphone Integration with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with the USB Package Plus featuring 5 USB-C ports, enhances the GLA's connectivity options.
Other features include hands-free opening of the tailgate, 64-colour ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
In terms of safety, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 gets Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, and Active Brake Assist. There’s also the Parking Package, including a reverse camera, and the Mirror Package.
