Following the launch in India last month, the long wheelbase BMW 3 Series (codenamed G28) has launched in Thailand. Only one variant is offered – the BMW 330Li M Sport and it’s assembled (CKD) in BMW Group Malaysia's vehicle assembly facility in Kulim, priced at 2,899,000 baht (around RM 392k).
Let’s start with the obvious difference - the size. The 2021 BMW 330Li M Sport is 4,819 mm in length, which is 110 mm longer than the normal version, while the width remains the same at 1,827 mm as the height is increased slightly at 1,441 mm.
With the rear doors now longer by 110 mm, it allows easier ingress and egress as well as an additional 43 mm of legroom.
Propulsion comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque, twisting the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h is claimed to be achieved in 6.2 seconds.
In terms of equipment, it wears the M Sport outfit with 18-inch Style 848 M wheels, adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant, powered tailgate, and panoramic glass roof.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in Vernasca Leather and the instrument panel is covered in Sensatec, which is BMW’s synthetic leather. Other features include Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless charging, gesture control, and head-up display.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with 10.25-inch touchscreen display runs on BMW Operating System 7.
Safety wise, the BMW 330Li M Sport gets Driving Assistant package that includes Front Collision Warning with Brake Intervention (AEB) and Lane Departure Warning. There’s also Parking Assistant Plus with a surround-view camera.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
