Is the time for the new Proton X70 facelift's launch quickly approaching? Perhaps but this latest spyshot of an undisguised X70 might be hinting that speculation a lot closer.
Taken by a user named Prince El Rachid and posted on Pandu Laju's social media page, the new-look X70 shows off a new front grille treatment similar to the Proton X90 and Proton S70. It also gains a new redesigned front bumper as well as slimmer LED headlights which resemble that of the Geely Boyue facelift.
Besides the nip and tuck in front, the new X70 will also be receiving a brand-new 5-spoke alloy wheel design. It has been confirmed by Proton that the new X70 will be launched in 2024 with the inclusion of intelligent cruise control (ICC) which is basically adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop & go.
It is rumoured that the new X70 could also receive a revised infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Aside from this speculated enhancement, it is possible that the X70 facelift could carry over the same powerplants as the outgoing pre-facelift which includes the turbocharged 1.5-litre 3-pot (177 PS/255 Nm).
However, the turbocharged 1.8-litre 4-cylinder (184 PS/300 Nm) variant could be dropped due to poor demand. Both units are paired to a 7-speed DCT sending power to either the front or all wheels. Proton could be unveiling the new 2024 Proton X70 facelift at the 2024 Malaysia Auto Show which will be from 22-26 May at MAEPS Serdang.
To recap, the current (pre-facelift) X70 is priced in Malaysia as below:
