Perodua Myvi is Leading the trends! But WHAT IF 2019 Proton Iriz is in the Play?

Perodua Myvi has gone through several facelifts, yet the silhouette of its archetype – Toyota Passo (Daihatsu), still can be noticed vividly from the outside or inside. Needless to say, the brand new 2018 Myvi gained a sportier outline and contains modern elements, a complete build sheet with the reasonable price also outstand the car in its class. However, does Perodua Myvi the best choice in the Malaysian subcompact/supermini market racing with Proton Iriz?

To make the game fair, we have Proton Iriz 1.3 VVT Standard MT (2019) and Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard G MT (2018) on the stage to see how the fight will be carried out. From price only, Proton Iriz is RM 5,000 lower than Myvi, which is in gear considering the progress in production within a year should cut down some costs on the technology and engine part.

From the engine and drivetrain aspect, little difference can be found in two models, yet Myvi presented better in the sense of fuel efficiency though with a smaller fuel capacity (1,332 cc for Iriz, 1,329 cc for Myvi).

Switching to dimensions, both are of a little gap in number. However, Iriz took down the score here in general. Another score in Iriz if looking into the power two players generates. Iriz’s engine produces 94 hp at 5,750 rpm while Myvi makes 94 hp at 6,000 rpm. From a glance, they are in a tide, but counting in the net weight for Iriz is 200 kg heavier than Myvi, Myvi dropped the rope.

Myvi reached one score on safety by adding in 4 airbags as standard while Iriz seized one for its cabin with seat height adjustable, extra USB ports Bluetooth and a more intact audio set.

All in all, it’s hard to say which model has an absolute advantage. For those who prioritized price, fuel-efficiency and safety, Perodua Myvi is a preferable option. However, Proton Iriz performs better for those in love with techs and speed.
