2023 Smart #3 Upcoming

Light the candles and spin some party records as the Smart brand is now all grown up, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. From what started out as a study between watch company Swatch and Mercedes-Benz (Swatch Mercedes ART) to fulfill the gap for a small city car, the brand has revived under Geely's purveyorship and now has two all-electric models – the Malaysia-bound #1 and #3. The front includes a wide A-shaped grill and slim LED headlights, while the rear has a noticeable spoiler. 19-inch wheels are standard (the Brabus variant gets 20-inch rollers), and a panoramic glass roof is standard.
Tianqi Lithium, a Chinese mining company that produces lithium compounds and derivatives in China, is considering investing in Smart as part of its efforts to expand its holdings, reports Automotive News Europe. The Chinese miner is in advanced talks to invest USD 100 million to USD 200 million in Smart, which may value the automaker at several billion dollars. An agreement could be reached in the next few weeks, although discussions could still be delayed or fall apart. Also read: Review: Behin
The Smart #3 EV has received the UNECE R155 cybersecurity and R156 software upgrade VTA E1 certification, becoming the first domestic vehicle in China to achieve this recognition. The certification, issued by the German Ministry of Transport (KBA), signifies that smart's vehicle network security and software upgrade technology adhere to international market regulations, meet the European Union's requirements for new vehicles, and provide technical compliance assurances for the brand's global ope
