All three variants are powered by the same 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, developing a respectable 235 PS at 4,800 RPM and peak torque of 350 NM from 1,650 RPM. Lugging its relatively heavy kerb weight of 1,845 kg from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and up to a top speed of 200 km/h.The compact high efficiency twin-scroll turbocharger combined with the dual VVT-i system greatly reduces turbo lag and enhances engine response time. Innovative D-4ST technology features both direct and port injectors to help achieve optimum combustion and generate high torque from low end through to high RPM changes.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-Speed automatic transmission with super ECT (Electronically Controlled Transmission) and AI-shift. The transmission incorporates various technologies including faster shift speeds, earlier torque converter lock-up and downshift throttle blips to support the different driving modes available in the Drive Mode Select system.
Drive-force-on-demand control logic calculates the engine torque required to provide a controlled and linear accelerator operation, giving the Lexus NX a sophisticated drive. The Dynamic Torque Control continually varies distribution of drive power between the front and the rear wheels, switching from front-wheel drive to AWD to enhance handling stability to suit the prevailing driving condition.
