First introduced in Malaysia by the Weststar Group back in 2011, the Maxus V80 has undergone two facelifts. Over the years, the van has been refined and improved, proving itself to be the ultimate workhorse across multiple industries. With one the largest interior space offered in the segment, the Maxus V80 is highly customisable, catering for a wide array of service and business needs for both passenger and commercial use.
Usage of the Maxus V80 ranges from transportation of goods like the very familiar green Massimo Bread van, to the special purpose vehicle such as the ambulances used by the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Latest to join their fleet are the negative pressure ambulances used for the transport of Covid-19 patient during the pandemic.
Locally assembled in Johor, Malaysia, the Maxus V80 is offered in two basic configuration- the 2-seater panel van (short and long wheelbase) with price tag starting from RM 115,888 and the Window Van (12- and 15-seater) from RM 140,888. Clients with specific specifications and requirements may approach Maxus’s engineering team for a custom-built special purpose vehicle.
Practicality- The high roof design paired with the unapologetically boxy shape allows for great flexibility and versatility in both ferrying passenger and carrying cargos. Tipping the scale at just a hair over 2 ton, the maximum gross weight of 3,500 kg allows for a decent amount of payload to be carried.
Reliability- If it is good enough to be used as an ambulance where performance and reliability are critical, it is guaranteed to be a dependable workhorse for your business.
Ride Comfort- The MIRA tuned suspension system is comfortable over road imperfections. The ride is reasonably quiet and stable, essential especially when used for ferrying passenger across long distances.
Handling- As to be expected from a vehicle of this size and especially this tall. The car inevitably leans in the corner and can be a tad clumsy during high-speed maneuvering.
Features- The sparse interior can certainly use some upgrade with modern amenities like a touchscreen with mobile connectivity or a 360-degrees camera system to safely maneuver the massive van especially in tight urban spaces.
