RM 999,888
Mercedes-Benz GLS Overview The 2020 X167 Mercedes-Benz GLS is the latest full-sized SUV to join Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s comprehensive line up of luxury SUVs. Available in the sole GLS 450 4Matic AMG Line guise, the gargantuan of a car is the SUV equivalent to the Mercedes-Benz S Class. First revealed back in April 2020, Mercedes-Benz’s latest flagship SUV is priced from RM 899,888 (OTR without insurance) and comes with a 4-year unlimited-mileage warranty. Now in its third generation, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is longer and wider than ever before, and it shares the same unibody architecture with the smaller Mercedes- Benz GLE. It is powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged inline six engine, paired to Mercedes’s EQ Boost electric motor. The full-sized SUV competes against rivals in the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX 570, but most directly though, with the new BMW X7.
Aston Martin DBX
RM 818,000 - 1,098,000
Aston Martin DBX Overview When the Aston Martin Rapide was revealed back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 4-door sedan from the British Marque wowed the world with its beautifully sculpted proportion and coupé-like exterior. The recently decommissioned sedan was the first and only modern-day Aston Martin with an extra pair of doors at the rear since the Aston Martin Lagonda back in the 1970s, until now. The new Aston Martin DBX represents many firsts for the British marque since the inception of the company more than 100 years ago. It is the company’s first ever SUV, sitting on a brand new, all-Aston Martin architecture and will be the first model to be assembled at Aston Martin’s new facility at St Athan in Wales’ Vale of Glamorgan. With proper SUV proportions and towing capability, the high-riding Aston Martin DBX is clearly from a different breed than its sports-car siblings, but the handsome face, beautiful proportion and superior driving dynamics make it unmistakably an Aston Martin and well deserved of the iconic wing badged The Aston Martin SUV is being offered in the Malaysian market in the sole fully loaded variant, powered by a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 masterpiece, driving all four wheels. The DBX attempts to deliver a true Aston Martin experience, only now from a higher vantage point.
Lamborghini Urus
RM 1,000,000
LAMBORGHINI URUS – Overview The Lamborghini Urus is only the third production/showroom model offered by the famous supercar automaker today, after the Huracan and Aventador. Thanks to its performance, practicality and price point, the Lamborghini has been a huge success for the company as well as dealers around the world. Total sales of the Urus model in 2019 and 2020 accounted for more than 50% of the brand’s sales, hitting record-high levels, with 2019 their best ever with a total of 8,205 units. For now, the Lamborghini Urus is only offered in one variant; no S, no Superleggera or Trofeo variants. In this segment of ultra-luxurious vehicles, final prices are never fixed as there is a high degree of personalisation involved, as well as the place of registration (duty-free zones such as Langkawi). As such, the price is on application or P.O.A. Nonetheless, the basic starting price of the Lamborghini Urus is RM900,000 before duties, taxes and optional equipment. Other super SUVs competing with the Lamborghini Urus is the neighbour based 20 km to the west in Modena, Bologna- the Maserati Levante Trofeo. Two legendary British marques also want a piece of the super SUV segment, with the Aston Martin DBX finally going on sale last year and the Bentley Bentayga. We would also consider the Mercedes-AMG G63 as a competitor too, albeit a little cheaper at RM1,447,000 with taxes and duties, as the G-Class has both the performance and pedigree of a super SUV.
Land Rover Defender
RM 798,800 - 998,800
Land Rover Defender – Overview The latest generation Land Rover Defender has placed individual and private consumers as its main target market. We usually see the-90s Defender being used by armed forces around the world, but the company is moving away from that image. The Land Rover Defender is a unique product, pursuing users who specifically want a high degree of off-road capability with premium features. As such the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is its closest competitor in Malaysia. Other large SUVs such as the Audi Q7, Toyota Land Cruiser and Volvo XC90 can be considered too. Globally, it is available in two body styles, the 3-door Defender 90 and the 5-door Defender 110. Plenty of seating variation that includes 5, 6 and 7 seats are available.
