What is the front fog lamp

[WapCar] The front fog lamp is installed in the front of the car at a position slightly lower than the headlamp, and is used to illuminate the road when driving in rainy and foggy weather. Because of the low visibility in foggy weather, the driver’s vision is restricted. The yellow anti-fog lamp has strong light penetration, it can improve the visibility of the driver and the surrounding traffic participants, so that the oncoming vehicle and pedestrians can find each other far away. General vehicle fog lights are halogen light sources, and some high-end models will use LED fog lights.

The front fog lamp is generally bright yellow, and the light line of the front fog lamp sign is downward, which is usually located on the instrument console in the car. Because the anti-fog lamp has high brightness and strong penetrability, it will not produce diffuse reflection due to fog, so correct use can effectively prevent accidents. In foggy weather, the front and rear fog lights are usually used together.

Why choose yellow for front fog lights

Red and yellow are the most penetrating colors, but red stands for "no access", so yellow is chosen.  Yellow is the purest color, and the yellow anti-fog lamp of a car can penetrate thick fog and shoot far away. Because of the backscatter, the driver of the vehicle behind turns on the front lights, which increases the background intensity and makes the image of the vehicle in front more blurred.

Use of fog lights

Do not use fog lights when driving without fog at night in the city, the front fog lights have no hood, which will make the car lights dazzling and affect driving safety. Some drivers not only use the front fog lights, but also turn on the rear fog lights. Because the power of the rear fog lamp bulb is relatively large, it will cause dazzling light to the car driver behind, which may cause eye fatigue and affect driving safety.
