It has been 6 years since the Perodua Axia made its debut to the industry. The A-segment hatchback was introduced to replace the outgoing Viva, a utility car used to get to your destination and widely criticised for its poor built quality. Perodua's goal for the Axia seems to counter all that the Viva is known with better-built quality, better driveability and even safety features. The 2019 Perodua Axia saw 2 new variants (GXtra and Style) added and along with a host of safety features making it the most affordable car with autonomous braking thanks to A.S.A 2.0.

After a couple of weeks of leaks and teases, the 2022 Perodua Myvi facelift is now officially launched. There are five variants offered, priced from RM 45,700 to RM 58,800 (OTR without insurance and SST). Perodua has collected 4,303 bookings for the facelifted Myvi within a 9-day period since bookings were open. What do you look for in a daily runabout? I would hazard a guess and say – fuel efficiency, space, and low maintenance cost. With those criteria, it’s little wonder that the Perodua Myvi tops the sales chart year after year. Proton’s attempt to steal the thunder was, and perhaps still is, with the Iriz. Evidently, that didn’t go as well as Proton had hoped, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Proton Iriz . The biggest bugbear personally is the CVT despite the continuous updates. Has the 2022 Proton Iriz facelift finally ironed out all the kinks? Well, I’d say nearly, and we shall get into that in a moment.
