New Lynk & Co 02 hatchback officially unveiled; Takes aim at VW Golf GTI

Lynk & Co is jumping into the hot hatch segment with the new Lynk and Co 02 Hatchback. The new variant has the same 0-100 km/h sprint time as the Volkswagen Golf GTI of 6.2 seconds!

Here's a little background on the new hatchback / SUV. The 02 was first conceived back in 2018 as a smaller SUV for buyers who find the Lynk and Co 01 too large. Like the SUV, the new hatchback is also built on the well-known Geely-Volvo CMA platform and utilizes a Volvo powertrain.

In this hot hatch form, the 02 is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Drive-E turbocharged petrol engine that produces 254 PS and 350 Nm. 

The engine is mated to an 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission that sends power to only the front wheels. If the engine setup sounds familiar that’s because it is used in Volvo T5 models.

Other than engine details, Lynk & Co revealed that the hatchback would come with a new body kit to emphasise the car’s sportiness, larger exhaust tips, lower ride height, and retuned suspensions.

On the inside, the 02's all-black interior comes with sporty accents that mimics the exterior colour. 

We wonder if Lynk & Co would release an all-wheel-drive variant of the more powerful 02, the Golf R would have another contender to fight off!
