At the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show, Subaru launched the all-new 2023 Subaru Crosstrek in China. Similar to markets like Japan and Indonesia, the Crosstrek nameplate replaces the familiar XV nameplate.

Three variants are offered in the Middle Kingdom, with prices starting from CNY 199,800 (~RM 128k) and tops out at CNY 230,800 (~RM 149k).

For the Chinese market, the sole powertrain option is a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre flat-4 engine that does 169 PS and 252 Nm, mated to a Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission. Drive is deployed to all four wheels via Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system.

Standard equipment for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek in China include automatic LED headlights, front and rear fog lights, LED daytime running lights, and a hidden headlight washer. The lower two variants get 17-inch alloy wheels, while the top-spec variant gets larger 18-inch units.

Inside, all variants of the Subaru Crosstrek get leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, while the upper two variants add leather-wrapped seats. The top-spec variant also adds heated steering wheel, aluminium pedals, Qi wireless charging pad, and built-in ETC to the mix.

Wireless Apple CarPlay is fitted, as standard, for all variants of the Subaru Crosstrek. Like other recently-launched Subaru models, infotainment duties are taken care of by a massive 11.6-inch portrait-style display.

Safety-wise, the Subaru EyeSight ADAS suite is a standard fitment for all variants, as well as 7 airbags. The top-spec variant also adds a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) that monitors the driver for signs of inattention or sleepiness.
