Geely’s current line-up may be extensive, encompassing sedans, SUVs, and MPVs. One segment that Geely is rather new in is the pick-up truck segment. The earlier attempt at a pick-up truck was the Farizon FX, essentially a Geely Boyue Pro but with a tacked-on truck bed.
But that could soon change with this new electric (EV) pick-up truck. Yes, it’s not any diesel-powered truck, but one powered by electric instead.
While the exact name of this pick-up truck remains unknown for the time being, various Chinese news outlets have reported that Geely has registered Radar as the brand for this pick-up truck. These Chinese sources also added that Radar could debut in China as soon as this Friday.
As for the actual pick-up truck, not much is known about it for now. Interior spyshots of said pick-up reveal that it looks largely similar to the Geely Haoyue, hinting that it could be a unibody pick-up truck.
Unibody pick-up trucks are different from traditional ladder frame ones (like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger). Notable examples of unibody pick-up trucks include the North American Honda Ridgeline, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Ford Maverick.
Closer to home, Proton is currently developing its version of the Geely Haoyue, which could be called the Proton X90. While the Proton X90 will be positioned above the X70 in their line-up, don’t expect the 7-seater X90 to be more luxurious than the smaller X70.
