At the Toyota 60th Anniversary Celebration in Thailand, Akio Toyoda, President & CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, unveiled a prototype battery electric pickup truck – the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV Concept – as well as the IMV 0 Concept pickup truck.
“For me, the Hilux Vigo launch remains one of the fondest memories of my career. So as a way of saying thank you, I decided to create a brand new IMV pick-up trucks for Thailand, which are the IMV 0 Concept and Hilux Revo BEV Concept,” said Akio Toyoda
The Hilux Revo BEV Concept was developed in Thailand, alongside the IMV 0 Concept. “Between them, they represent two different ends of the automotive spectrum, for different needs and different customers. One is designed to support economic growth, and the other one designed to support carbon neutrality and a better environment for all,” he added.
As for the IMV 0 Concept, it’s a modular commercial vehicle made to be customisable to suit a variety of needs. It is said to be rebuildable into different shapes by two adults in just under one hour. The interior is also modular as well.
Details on the drivetrain or battery have yet to be divulged, as Akio Toyoda mentioned that official launch is still over a year away.

Meanwhile in the UK, development work of the Toyota Hilux fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) has begun. It will use powertrain components from the Toyota Mirai, utilising the brand's second-generation fuel-cell system.

Set to be built at the company's Burnaston, Derbyshire plant, company representatives say that a prototype will be ready in 2023.
This ties into Toyota’s belief in a holistic approach to carbon neutrality. “I believe we need to be realistic about when society will be able to fully adopt Battery Electric Vehicles and when our infrastructure can support them at scale,” said Akio Toyoda.
