China's No.1 selling SUV, 2021 Haval H6 spotted in Thailand, ASEAN debut soon

This is it - your first look at what is possibly the first-ever right-hand drive (RHD) 2021 Haval H6 caught testing in Thailand, ahead of its launch there next week. Let's jump right into it!

Looking at the sole interior image, it seems that the Thai-spec H6 retains the 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, as well as the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system found on the China-spec car.

Curiously, the funky red-and-black dual-tone interior seen on the China-spec car appears to have given way to a more conventional all-black interior, spiced up only by some silver trims. 

Maybe that's reserved for other variants? We'll have to wait for the launch to find out.

Speaking of launches, Great Wall Motor (GWM - owner of the Haval, Wey, Ora and Great Wall brands) will be launching the SUV alongside several other models in the Land of Smiles through an online event next week, on 9-February 2021.

Aside from these spyshots, details of the Thai-spec H6's powertrain is still unclear. For reference, the China-spec H6 is powered by a choice of two turbocharged four-cylinder mills (depending on variant):

China's best-selling SUV heads to the ASEAN region

Although Haval's Malaysian operations are nothing to write home about, it's a different story in China. The H6 is the country's best-selling SUV in 2020, outselling the Geely Boyue by a whopping 136,053 units.

Overall, GWM has high hopes for the ASEAN region. Recall that they've taken over a former General Motors' plant in an effort to make the country the company's regional production hub for cars they'll sell in this region.

How that fares for the H6 reaching Malaysian shores remains to be seen, but watch this space for further updates.
