Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced that the fully imported (CBU, China) GWM Tank 300 SUV is now open for booking in Malaysia with an estimated price of RM 250,000. Deliveries are expected to begin in July 2024.

To recap, the GWM Tank 300 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 220 PS and 380 Nm. The engine is mated ZF 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT).

Backing up its macho looks is a potent drivetrain equipped with a dual-speed electronically-controlled 4WD system, allowing drivers to switch between 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) modes as needed.

The system is further aided by an all-terrain control system featuring nine driving modes, crawl control, and the unique tank turn feature, which locks the inner rear wheel to pivot the vehicle around tight corners.

Measuring in at 4,760 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, 1,903 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm the Tank 300 is comparable in size to the Toyota Fortuner which measures 4,795 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,835 mm tall.

The Tank 300 also rides on a ladder-frame like the Toyota Fortuner, making it the Tank 300’s closest rival. In addition, the Tank 300 boasts a ground clearance of 224 mm and a water wading depth of up to 700 mm.

Inside, the SUV offers a snazzy cabin with seats finished in Nappa leather. The Tank 300 also features an 8-way adjustable driver seat double-layer acoustic glass for improved refinement. 

The Tank 300 also offers pair of 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless charger and a 9-speker Infinity audio system also comes as standard.

For safety, the vehicle includes Level 2 (L2) Driving Assistance with smart features such as Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Highway Assist (HWA).

Additional safety features include a Type Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree all-around view monitor with Transparent Chassis Function, Automatic Collision Unlocking, and Automatic Collision Fuel Cutoff. These features have earned the Tank 300 a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

In conjunction with the opening of the order books, GWM is offering a special package for the first 300 bookings. This includes a 5-year/100,000 km free service package (inclusive of parts and labor), a lifetime powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage for the first owner, and a mystery gift to be revealed at the official launch.
