Since Berjaya Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB) took over the responsibility of the brands under Groupe PSA, there has been quite a number of sightings of new Peugeots like the Peugeot 2008 and the Peugeot 508 on the roads. But this time, instead of a Peugeot, a Funtastiko reader spotted Citroen's upscale marque's DS3 Crossback on the road.
The DS3 Crossback is a compact SUV launched worldwide in September 2020. The SUV is available in both petrol and diesel engines, DS also offers the SUV as a fully electric version.
But does this mean that the SUV will be coming to Malaysia? Too early to tell. Unlike with Peugeot, BAASB only took over the after-sales service of the Citroen and DS brands and not the distribution rights of these brands.
The reason the DS3 Crossback is spotted testing in Malaysia is probably because Groupe PSA has a regional training centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Don’t forget, we’ve previously reported that a Peugeot Landtrek pickup truck was spotted in Malaysia though the pickup is destined for Latin American and sub-Saharan markets.
But don't lose hope yet, the car spotted in photo bears a Kedah tradeplate. Groupe PSA has an assembly plant in Gurun, Kedah, this could mean that the DS3 Crossback could be locally assembled similar to the Peugeot 2008 previously also spotted in Gurun.
