The balik kampung grace period of 3 days for residents in states observing MCO has ended and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has stated that they will no longer be accepting excuses from those trying to travel out of their 10 km travel radius without a solid reason. PDRM will be issuing compounds to these travellers before turning them back.
According to Georgetown police chief, PDRM has already observed the 3-day grace period for those wishing to return to their hometowns in light of the full lockdown in several states and will now carry out the proper lockdown measures.
The grace period was issued by the government to allow Malaysians more time to make the proper preparations before they can leave the state.
From now on, all cars will be asked to stop at roadblocks set up to control the movement of Malaysians to further prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
PDRM is requesting all Malaysians to cooperate with the police in the efforts to stop the spread of the virus.
