Police open fire at desperate Proton Waja trying to escape

Earlier today a Proton Waja was caught on camera ramming into multiple vehicles at a traffic light trying to escape from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). The car managed to make an escape and later videos also revealed that the driver has since abandoned the car and fled on foot.

In the 45-second video, officers were seen trying to investigate the Proton Waja driver while at a traffic light in Sierramas, Sungai Buloh.

But the driver ignored both police officers and started reversing, hitting the car behind in the process, before ramming into a Perodua Myvi and what looks like a Tesco delivery truck.

PDRM was forced to shoot the tyres of the car multiple times in an attempt to prevent the car from escaping. But all efforts were in vain as the Waja was able to escape by making enough space for himself to squeeze past the truck and the Myvi.

The car was later found abandoned near the Damansara Damai MRT station. It is believed that there were 2 passengers in the car at the time of the incident.

Says also reports that it is still not known yet what led to the driver’s desperate attempts to escape. Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal has confirmed the incident, however further details on the incident will be issued later.

If you’re wondering why did the police officers only shoot the tyres, that is because cops are not allowed to discharge firearms in a congested public area, so shooting the tyres is the next best option.
