If the Nissan Kicks isn’t compact enough for you, perhaps the upcoming Magnite might get you excited.
Positioned below the Kicks, the Nissan Magnite is an upcoming sub-4-meter long SUV that could very well be the cheapest new SUV in India, with prices rumoured to start below the INR 6 lakh (~RM 34,472) mark, likely undercutting the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue.
In an effort to draw customers away from the competition, a report from Autocar India mentioned that the Magnite could get features like a 360-degree view monitor, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and an automatic air-conditioning system.
Two engine options are said to be available when the Magnite is launched – a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine (73 PS, 96 Nm) and a 1.0 HR10 turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine (said to produce around 96 PS). Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT-type automatic, while an AMT-type automatic is on the cards.
Nissan India is prepping the Magnite for an August debut, though the Covid-19 pandemic could push the debut back a fair bit.
