SST exemption 2021: Honda prices in Malaysia - 2 months left for cheaper Hondas

The sales tax (SST) exemption/discount for new and reconditioned cars under the Penjana stimulus package will expire by 30 June 2021. This gives potential buyers a little over 2 months to seize the opportunity to buy a new car with SST exemption/discount in place.

To recap, locally-assembled (CKD) cars are exempted from the 10 percent sales tax, while fully-imported (CBU) cars get 50 percent discount (5 percent sales tax).

If you’re interested in a Honda, we’ve compiled a list of Honda models to compare the prices with and without the SST exemption/discount.

On 1 July 2021, car prices are expected to increase following the inclusion of sales tax. Do note that upon SST reinstatement, prices may not necessarily revert to pre-SST-exemption era as the price list needs to be approved by the government once more, hence the emphasis on estimated pricing.

For buyers to get the SST exempted price, the car needs to be registered before 30 June 2021. However, the global chip shortage has caused supply for some models to be tight, so do check with your dealers on availability.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience.
