Owner Review: Alternative to Uncle's Car? - My Process of Owning & Refining the BMW 320i
103
Lately, social media has been abuzz when a 500-year-old tree was spotted chopped up and transported on a trailer in Pahang. But while other parts of the country are cutting down trees and deforestation issues come to light, BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia is working on an initiative to help preserve our country’s forests.
From now until 31st July 2021, every funded contract signed for a BMW or a MINI plug-in hybrid will contribute RM 100 to the Animal Projects and Environmental Education’s (APE Malaysia) Restore Our Amazing Rainforest (ROAR) programme.
Each contribution will mean 5 new trees are planted in the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary. Customers whose contracts contributed to BMW’s reforestation initiative will receive a photo as well as an e-certificate with the GPS coordinates to their trees from APE Malaysia.
APE Malaysia’s ROAR programme aims to create and reconnect important forest corridors that have been degraded by deforestation. The programme also serves to restore habitat for endangered animals which includes the orangutan and Borneo Pygmy Elephant.
The ROAR programme also aims to counteract carbon footprint. This works for BMW as the reforestation initiative is part of the BMW Group’s sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions globally.
