8 live photos to give us 8 reasons why we need the 2022 Kia K9 facelift in Malaysia

The new 2022 Kia K9 facelift made its official debut just last week, but now live photos of the sleeker and younger-looking flagship sedan have emerged on Hyundai Motor Group’s official Facebook page.

Of course, the most significant change is the presence of the new Kia logo. The K9 follows in the footsteps of its smaller siblings, the Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos as well as the Kia EV6 to bear the new logo.

Although this is just a facelift exercise, Kia designers have made quite a number of changes to update the looks. Gone are the rather old-fashioned vertical headlamps and old Kia signature grille, and in with the larger more aggressive grille paired with horizontal headlamps.

The rear end also received a few changes to match the overall more modern feel. Designers have added a strip that connects both tail lamps, while the number plate placement has been moved to the bumper.

Other than that, designers have also given the car a new set of wheels to complete the sleeker looks.

On the inside, not much has changed though Kia has added 2 new wood accent options and introduced a new weave on the leather upholstery.

The biggest difference is the new 14.5-inch infotainment display that stylishly stretches across the centre dashboard.

To refresh your minds, the Kia K9 has been updated to bear a host of new technologies like a Fingerprint Authentication system.

The system will scan the fingerprint of the driver and adjust all systems like the air-conditioning settings, side-mirror adjustments, and seat position according to the driver’s personalised profile.

It is also the first car in Kia’s stable, and in Korea for that matter, to come with over the air (OTA) system updates for the infotainment and the instrument cluster.

The Kia K9 is left-hand-drive only, Kia Motors has no plans to introduce a right-hand-drive version of the K9 anytime soon.
