Basic information

2021 Honda City 1.5E

Reason why I bought this car

  • needed a bigger boot to carry stuff
  • my second car the Iriz had a smaller boot,
  • more spacious interior
  • because of the great sale in March and gotten a good deal for the car
  • didn't need the V spec, E is just enuff for me
  • couldn't wait for the Proton X50
  • Perodua Ativa too small and boxy for me

Car selection process

  • I had a budget of: RM 75k~105k
  • Models that I have considered include: Perodua Ativa, Proton X50

The reason why I choose this car

  • spacious boot to carry stuff
  • spacious interior
  • silent cabin
  • instant throttle response
  • useful paddle shifters

User experience

  • I have already done 4,780km.
  • My average fuel consumption is 16.1km/L.

It's a fun car to drive around, no issue about flooring the pedal, easy to park Little things like the middle arm rest helps me rest my arm and have a chill drive, Apple carplay is a must for me although its wired but I'm happy that it came with the car. I didn't have to spend a bomb to upgrade the headunit. Almost bought the S spec, but it felt like my older Iriz if I got the S spec. Seats are OK and enough to support my body, not fully bucket, but semi bucket which is very comfortable.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Fun car to drive
  • Cruise control is a joy when you're lazy to depress the pedal while driving on highways
  • Apple Carplay head unit, no need to put my phone near the aircon
  • Good bolstered seats, enough lumbar support
  • Can chuck around corners
  • Bitey brakes
  • Nice quite UC6 tyres
  • Excellent all round view, the car's front bonnet sits a little lower and I can see when I park or I'm driving to gauge the distance between me and the car in front of me

Cons

  • Noisy CVT whine, but wayyyy quiter than my Iriz
  • No soft close of the glovebox, had to slam it if I want to close it, even my Iriz has that
  • Although the dash is hard plastics, but I can live with it
  • Interior sometimes gets dirty with some little white fur on the middle hand rest area, the door card area, until today I don't know where the white little fur comes from
  • Paint a bit thin

Summary

Overall it's a fun car to drive with little creature comforts that makes my life easier without needing me to fumble around in the car.
Handling is OK but not as good as a Proton, aircon is OK, gets the job done, just that the cabin can get stuffy if you dont turn on the AC as the interior feels like you're sitting in a closed safety box.

Some interesting events

Did some minor upgrades to the car with more to come

Added some bits and pieces to the car, like adding a RS spoiler, rear diffuser and coating my headlamps and my rear lamps

Everywhere I go, people will surely stare at my blue coated headlamps.

Once I got asked by a dude in a BMW at a traffic light, where did you put your lamps ah? cool blue wei...
