Steel beam scaffolding of the LRT 3 bridge construction near Tesco Bukit Tinggi and Aeon Bukit Tinggi gave way earlier today. Four foreign workers were successfully rescued from the debris while one worker died under the rubble.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis told Kosmo Online that the victim’s body, a Bangladeshi worker, was removed from the debris at 4.20 pm by the rescue team deployed from the Shah Alam and Port Klang Fire and Rescue stations.
The other victims are three workers of Bangladesh nationals while one worker is of Indonesian nationality. All four victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to Kosmo Online, the incident is believed to have happened at around 2 pm on 29 July 2021.
This is the fourth infrastructure collapse incident in 2021 and the second incident from the LRT 3 construction. Last month, a temporary structure in the LRT 3 construction site in Meru, Klang collapsed forcing authorities to close several roads in Klang.
