Back at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show in April, SAIC Motor’s subsidiary, Maxus, brought out the Maxus Mifa concept car – a seven-seater electric MPV with a claimed range of 600 km.
But the Mifa may not be a concept car for long, as Maxus has said that the Mifa will be entering series production later this year, with exports in the pipeline.
The sole teaser photo posted by Maxus shows a silhouette very similar to the concept car, including its dual-tone black roof and slim LED headlight. The only difference, at least from this teaser photo, is the side mirrors, which look to be a regular-type, as opposed to the concept car’s slim units.
While the exterior design of the production Mifa could largely mirror the concept car, the interior will most likely see a bigger change. Like most concept cars that turned into production cars, the interior of the Mifa will be toned down as well.
Power is said to come from a dual-electric motor set-up, offering 680 PS and a whopping 900 Nm. Though it may be an MPV, Maxus said that it can complete the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds. School runs have never been more exciting.
A lithium-ion battery pack with an energy density of 300 Wh/kg offers a range of up to 600 km. In the future, Maxus could fit the Mifa with a solid-state battery pack, potentially increasing the range to more than 800 km.
MPVs should not be boring and the Maxus Mifa is just that – offering the ability to ferry seven with comfort and with the performance to boot.
Once it hits the market, it will square up against other electric MPVs such as the Maple 80V (basically an EV version of the Geely Jiaji) and BYD Song Max EV.
Maxus also offers other electric MPVs in their line-up, including the Euniq 5 and Euniq 7.
Closer to home, Weststar Maxus currently has the Maxus G10, Maxus T60, and Maxus V80 in their line-up. The Mifa could be a interesting addition to their line-up, don't you think?
