Malaysians may know Geely, but Chery is China’s most trusted car brand

Chery is returning to Malaysia after a short hiatus. Here's what you need to know about Chery before they return here. Also, we will do a follow-up post regarding the models that are slated to arrive here. 

2021 witnessed a number of ups and downs in the global automotive scene. Despite that, Chery continued to maintain the strongest growth rate in China’s automotive industry.

Last year, Chery sold 961,926 cars, a year-on-year increase of 31.7 percent. Out of which, 269,154 units were exported, a year-on-year increase of 136.3 percent, effectively putting Chery as the top exporter of Chinese passenger vehicles for 19 consecutive years. So far, Chery already has a global user base of over 10 million, including 1.95 million users outside China.

The popularity of Chery in global markets is credited to the launch of its Pro family models. The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro has won several accolades in Russia, including “The Most Popular Chinese SUV”, “The Most Technological SUV”, and “The Media’s Favourite Medium-sized SUV”.

Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is Chery's answer to the Proton X70

But that’s not all – it took less than 6 months for the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro shoot up to the top spot in Qatar, winning the best-selling SUV award in the process. In Brazil, the hot-selling model Arrizo 6 Pro was selected as "The Best Car" by an authoritative media company in Brazil.

T1X platform is co-developed with Jaguar Land Rover

In 2021, the Chery 2.0T engine was selected as one of the “Chinese Heart” Top Ten Engine of 2021. Since 2006, when the “Chinese Heart” selection of top ten engines was launched, 9 Chery engines, including their 1.6T GDI and 2.0T GDI have been selected.

Based on its deep technological accumulation of ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles, Chery has also released the "Chery 4.0 Global Power Architecture", which includes various energy forms such as fuel, hybrid, battery, and hydrogen power, to meet the demands of users for all scenarios of mobility.

In November, 2021, in the final selection of the 46th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC), it competed fiercely with 904 teams from all over the world, and finally won the gold medal, the highest prize of the conference. This is the fifth time that Chery has won the highest honor at the international "Olympics" of quality for the "Chinese Team".
