About 50 vehicles were burnt down during the explosion that happened at the Sentul district police headquarters evidence store yesterday.
Three men suffered minor injuries during the explosion. The Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department rushed the injured men to Hospital Kuala Lumpur to be treated.
According to a statement released by the department, the fire burnt 30 percent of the building’s structure and 80 percent of an open area where the 50 vehicles were parked.
At the time of writing, the fire and rescue department has yet to determine the cause of the fire and investigations was still underway.
However, the media reported that the Sentul police were disposing of 1,059 boxes and 35 gunny sacks of firecrackers and fireworks of various types when the explosion took place. The fireworks were estimated to be worth RM 4.1 million.
