Mercedes-Benz owners, have you checked your MO tyres before this weekend’s Raya travel?

The Hari Raya travel season will start this weekend and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia wants to remind customers to bring in their Mercedes-Benz vehicle(s) for a vehicle health and safety inspection before travelling out.

Specifically, customers need to pay attention to their tyres – the most fundamental and most critical component that determines the effectiveness of their Mercedes-Benz’ advanced safety features.

With no firm contact patch to keep the car grounded safely on the road, all other active safety features in the car is rendered useless.

You may think that any tyre with the correct size and fitment is suitable for your Mercedes-Benz but do you know that all Mercedes-Benz cars are delivered from the factory with Mercedes-Benz Original (MO) tyres?

MO tyres are custom-made for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with compound and tread pattern optimized Mercedes-Benz’s weight and driving dynamics. The Mercedes-Benz Original tyres are sold at any of the Mercedes-Benz authorised service centres.

Each MO tyre has gone through up to 1,000 additional hours of engineering and testing to ensure shorter braking distance, higher thermal stability, improved resistance to aquaplaning, as well as smoother handling, lower rolling resistance, and reduced tyre rolling noise.

These tyres can be identified with an MO marking on the side wall. As an extension of the MO marking, some models use MOE tyres. These refer to run-flat tyres that are custom-made for Mercedes-Benz cars. Meanwhile, higher performance AMG models will use MO1 tyres. There’s also MOS, low noise tyres specifically designed for comfort-oriented models.

To qualify for the MO marking, tyre manufacturers must be able to change the tyre's 0 degree stabiliser belt, steel belt, carcass, bead, tread, and side wall to meet Mercedes-Benz' 40 requirements, which covers over 40 parameters of tyre safety and performance.

MO tyres has customized construction in these areas, to meet Mercedes-Benz' requirements

Before starting your long journey this Raya, make an appointment with your preferred authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for a vehicle and tyre health check. The people who know your Mercedes-Benz best are the people who built and sold the car.

Like many high in demand, popular cars, there are many counterfeit spare parts on sale, with some that are visually so similar to the real thing that even experts find it hard to tell them apart. Put them on a stress test however, the difference between a genuine Mercedes-Benz part and a fake one becomes obvious very quickly.

For a total peace of mind, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recommends that you have your car inspected at their authorized outlets.

Appointments can be made online at mb4.me/myoab, or call Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Customer Care Centre at 1-800-88-1133. More information is available here.
