Over the weekend, a video of a policeman talking on the phone while driving went viral. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) immediately started an investigation on the incident and issued a fine to the policeman involved.
In the 14-second video, the driver of a Proton Preve police car was clearly seen holding a phone to his ear while driving along the Federal Highway. The policeman and his colleague were heading towards Petaling Jaya at the time of the incident.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid told Bernama the incident in the video happened at around 9 am on Sunday.
The driver was issued a fine in accordance to Article 17(A) LN166/59.
“The police will not compromise on any misconduct committed by personnel on duty,” Fakhrudin said.
