Ora Good Cat makes Malaysian debut; CBU China, 400 - 500 km range NEDC

  • Preview only, prices to be announced later
  • Imported from China
  • Two battery sizes, 400 km and 500 km range based on NEDC

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has made its official return to Malaysia and one of the first cars they’re looking to launch will come from their electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary brand Ora, the Ora Good Cat.

Hence, it is not a surprise that one of the first models they are looking to launch in Malaysia is the Ora Good Cat. In fact, several sales assistants already have the Good Cat on display for interested buyers since May.

The Ora Good Cat made its right-hand-drive debut in Thailand last year. The EV comes fully-imported (CBU) from China to the land of smiles. The unit on display at the Malaysian debut is also a right-hand-drive unit imported from China.

The EV is powered by a permanent magnet electric motor located at the front. The motor produces 145 PS and 210 Nm.

Offered in two battery sizes, the smaller battery 47.8 kWh in the Good Cat offers a 400-km range while the larger 63.1 kWh battery adds on another 100 km to offer a total of 500 km range. Both measurements are based on the NEDC.

The Good Cat uses a CCS2 (Type 2 for AC, CCS for DC) charger. Standard AC charging takes eight hours to get the Good Cat to full, however, with DC charging, the Good Cat gets from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Now that GWM is officially back in business in Malaysia, it won’t be long now before the adorable Good Cat will finally be launched in our country. GWM will want to take advantage of the full tax exemption for EVs that the government introduced last year.
