Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has taken to reminding Malaysians that Putrajaya will be subsidising around 54 percent for every litre of RON95 petrol sold next week.
Commenting outside his portfolio, the minister said calculations were based on the actual price of RON95 that stood at RM4.52 per litre.
“Malaysia holds RON95 petrol price at RM2.05 per litre (USD 0.46) to curb inflation. Market price for RON95 is RM4.52 per litre,” he tweeted on the morning of 7 July 2022.

He further went on to claim that it’s among the lowest fuel prices in the region as well as the world. Following the subsidy of approximately 54 percent, the price of RON95 drops to the current RM 2.05 per litre that has remain unchanged since 27 February 2021.
According to the health minister, the price of fuel in Singapore stands at RM 10.28 per litre while it’s RM 5.24 per litre in Indonesia and RM 5.47 in Thailand.
Although the price of Brent crude oil has been reported to be on a 4 day decline at just under USD 100 a barrel, there’s no word if that will lower the price of RON95 in the country in the near future.
