As Chery Malaysia gears up for its re-launch here by the second half of 2023, spyshots of its upcoming models have intensified.
This time around, the Chery Omoda 5 gets spotted again, but with a slight twist.
Whereas earlier spyshots of the Omoda 5 wore non-production, circular-type tail lights, the latest batch of spyshots show the new SUV with production-ready tail lights.
Black tape on either side of the tailgate conceals the Omoda 5βs model and variant emblems.
As a refresher, Chery Malaysia has formalized an agreement with a yet-to-be named local assembly partner.
βAccording to Charlie Zhang, Executive Vice President of Chery International, both the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Chery Omoda 5 are targeted to start production by end-June 2023, with a market launch aimed at July.
Although Chery remains tight-lipped about the location of its CKD plant, it is rumoured to be in Kulim, Kedah - at the Sime Darby Motors-Bermaz Auto co-owned Inokom plant.
The Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah also assembles models like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Mazda CX-8.
