Almost half of Chery Omoda 5 test drive customers at the Indo Motor Show book the SUV

The Chery Omoda 5 is one of the most anticipated SUVs in the country, with increased sightings on the road prior to its launch in Malaysia. Turns out though, our neighbours across the strait are equally excited about it as over half of the customers who took a drive in it at the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show placed a booking.

Chery’s booth at the show piqued the interest of thousands of visitors as they thronged the Chinese carmaker’s booth to look around as well as take their SUVs for a quick spin.

President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, Shawn Xu, shared with our sister site AutoFun that around 1,000 people signed up to test drive the various Chery models with approximately 700 getting behind the wheel of the Omoda 5. Of the 700, just over 300 of them had pre-booked the Omoda 5.

He added that discounted pricing during the show contributed to the flurry of bookings as well.

Even Indonesian model and actress Luna Maya was smitten by the Omoda 5. She placed her booking for the SUV prior to the show after reading promising reviews about it.

The right-hand drive Omoda 5 for the Indonesian market will be built in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi but will be exported as well to other markets.
