The CarTell Track Attack Volume 2 concluded just before the stroke of midnight on 27 May 2023 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) with plenty of cars bettering last year’s fastest lap at the inaugural Track Attack event.
Volume 2 of the open track day organised by Carlist.my was flagged off at 4pm and the action never relented from the 100 participating cars.
Once the brake dust had settled and the scent of burning clutches were nowhere to be whiffed in the paddock, top honours went to a HKS-tuned Nissan GT-R R35 piloted by Firhat Mokhzani with a blistering lap of 2:14:889.
However, this GT-R is no purpose-built track toy and remains very much a streetcar as it retains a full interior and air-conditioning. In fact, it was driven to SIC as well as back home and not brought in on a flatbed. This makes it one of the fastest streetcars in the country.
The car was built and developed by HKS Performance Dealer of Garage R, ATS Automobile. You’ve probably seen their shop surrounded by GT-Rs in the Jalan Horsepower area of Sunway.
Some of the choice components fitted on Firhat’s GT-R include the following:
Aside from the on-track action, CarTell has partnered up with Velocity Motor Show to host a massive car festival at the North Paddock area that housed a modified car show, car audio competition and lifestyle exhibitions from partners.
For comparison’s sake, the fastest lap from the first edition of Track Attack was a 2:22 posted by a fiery red Honda Civic FK8R specifically tuned for Sepang duties.
Impressively, a total of 9 cars topped that lap time during the second edition.
Here’s to quicker times when Track Attack Volume 3 comes around.
