The idea of MG HS could be spotted from the 2018 Beijing Auto show. It was a concept model called MG X-Motion. Within the same year the Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor under the MG marque began to mass produce the compact crossover SUV and the MG HS was born.
The MG HS is a C-segment 5-door SUV replacing MG GS, the MG HS predecessor. The MG HS is MGās largest crossover SUV above the MG ZS. The MG HS is expected to be available in the Malaysia market soon. The MG HS rivals are the Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V and Volkswagen Tiguan.

The front of the MG HS features a huge grill with star design and the iconic MG badge. A lot of chrome is involved in the design as frames on the front and sides. The curves and lines on the hood and the sides of the MG HS makes the car looks sleek and sporty. The MG HS has a pair of nine-crystal LED design headlights and a pair of taillights made up of 21 individual LEDs. The MG HS has ground clearance of 174 mm and a weight of 1,718 kg.

On the dash, the MG HS has a three-spoke leather multifunctional steering wheel and two high quality display screens. The 12.3 inch is located behind the steering wheel and the 10.1-inch-high resolution touch screen at the centre of the dashboard that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
