Suzuki Indonesia has begun exporting 140 units of the Suzuki Ertiga MPV for the Bruneian market. This was held in conjunction with the opening of Patimban Port located in Subang (no relation with Subang Jaya) in West Java, Indonesia.
Patimban Port will act as the latest gateway port for vehicles which will be exported from Indonesia. The Ertiga is currently assembled at Suzuki’s plant in Cikarang, West Java, and is exported to many markets including Thailand, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Malaysians would recognise the Ertiga name as the only Proton model that was based on a Suzuki. However, that model was based on the older first-generation.
The current second-generation model was launched in 2018. It is built on the HEARTECT platform shared with other Suzuki models including the Swift, Ignis, and Baleno. Powering the Indonesian-spec Ertiga is a 1.5-litre K15B inline-4 petrol engine (104 PS/138 Nm).
This engine is then mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic which powers the front wheels.
Even though Suzuki has been absent in the Malaysian market for years now, we are expecting the Japanese brand to make a return here in 2021 under Naza. So, are you excited for the famed S badge to return?
