Due to launch in Korea in early April, the Kia K8 has already received the highest number of pre-orders ever among all Kia saloons.
With 18,105 pre-orders received within the first day (22 March), the Kia K8 has managed to gain more than double the 7,003-unit figure obtained by the Kia K5 back in 2019.
The Kia K8 is the first Kia to bear the brand’s new logo. Dimension-wise, Kia has only mentioned that the K8 measures 5,015 mm in length, which is about the length of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Powertrains available for the Kia K8 are as follows:
*GDI= Gasoline Direct Injection; LPI= Liquid Propane Injection; MPI= Multi-Port Injection
The 3.5-litre and 2.5-litre engines are paired to an in-house 8-speed automatic transmission.
The K8 will first be launched in Korea next month and powertrain specifications will differ according to regions. A 1.6-litre hybrid version is also in the pipeline.
The K8’s interior lives up to the “high-end luxury” that it aims for. It’s “Ergo Motion Seats” has more than 7 individually-controlled air pockets that create the effect of stretching while sitting down.
The Ergo Motion Seats also feature Smart Support and Posture Assistance. The K8 is also equipped with a 12-inch digital cluster and a 12-inch infotainment unit and a sound system from Meridian Auto.
Ventilation and heating of the cabin is sectioned to three areas, giving each passenger the experience of a bespoke lounge environment.
In terms of ADAS the K8 gets FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist) with avoidance steering, and an intelligent navigation-based smart cruise control.
The K8 also features Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) technology that warns if the car is exceeding the speed limit by using data from the front view camera or navigation system.
More details on the K8 will be unveiled during its launch in Korea next month.

Why do performance car manufacturers prefer RWD instead of AWD or 4WD? I mentioned that most of performance cars prefer RWD rather than AWD,even though AWD is faster than RWD. C63S AMG has 60 hp more than Audi RS5.However,RS5 can beat C63S in 0-100km/h sprint. Why do so many sport car manufacturers prefer RWD even when itβs slower than AWD?
