The current Penjana sales tax (SST) exemption / discount for locally-assembled (CKD) and imported (CBU) vehicles will be extended to 31-December 2021, confirms Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a press conference today.
This means that CKD passenger vehicles will continue to enjoy 100% exemption from the applicable 10 percent SST (meaning zero SST), while CBU and recond vehicles get a 50% discount (5 percent SST).
As before, the SST exemption/discount applies only to passenger vehicles, including SUVs and MPVs. Commercial vehicles like pick-up trucks (e.g. Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max) do not enjoy this benefit.
