Polestar has unveiled a more powerful experimental version of the Polestar 2 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This Polestar 2 is a showcase of what a sportier version could potentially be like.
Compared to the regular Polestar 2, this amped-up version does 476 PS, an increase of 68 PS. Polestar did not reveal the torque figure, but it’s evident that this particular Polestar 2 will crack a 0-100 km/h time well under the 4.7 seconds set by the regular model.
Polestar also fettled with the chassis, giving it stiffer springs all round, as well as new Öhlins dampers. The latter are 30-percent stiffer than the regular Polestar 2. But that’s not all, as it gets a front strut brace made out of carbon fibre and sticky 275/40R21 Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tyres.
Visually, this experimental Polestar 2 gets subtly-redesigned front and rear bumpers and 10-mm wider fender extensions.
“I challenged the design and engineering teams to play with Polestar 2 and come up with something that makes a strong statement for Goodwood. For a few months I have enjoyed driving another experimental Polestar 2, nicknamed ‘Beast’, around our Gothenburg campus, which inspired the team to come up with this version for Goodwood. We want to flex our muscles and explore opportunities,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

Whether or not Polestar decides to put the Polestar 2 into production remains to be seen. Polestar recently added front-wheel drive variants of the Polestar 2 to its line-up, which potentially leaves room for a performance-oriented model seen here.
