About My Lynk & Co 05

Last October, there was a need for my family to purchase a new car. We unanimously decided that this time, we wanted to get an SUV. Before getting the Lynk & Co 05, my family used to own a Peugeot 508 sedan for 5 years.

Despite Peugeot is not a very popular brand in China, and has a horrible resale value, I chose the Peugeot 508 was because of its comfort, spec and power (1.8T with a 6-speed automatic).

The headlight is actually located here. The top part is just a daytime running lamp with turn signals.

But, as much as I love my old Peugeot 508, I still wanted to look for something different to drive. So, here are 5 reasons why I chose the Lynk & Co 05 as my new car:

  1. Powertrain

The Lynk & Co 05 has a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine sourced from Volvo, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission from Aisin. Also, it shares the same CMA platform as the Volvo XC40.

I fell in love with how smooth the car delivers its performance. It cranks out 253 PS and 350 Nm of torque like a dream.

  1. Safety

I consider safety as my biggest concern when buying a car as I will be driving around with my wife and child. Thanks to its shared platform with Volvo, one of the safest car brands in the world, the Lynk & Co 05 has a full suite of safety features you can think of that exists in a modern car.

I don't know if you might have heard of a saying that goes: 'the more complicated the design, the more expensive it is to fix in the long run.' I completely disagree with this saying. It is already 2020, not 1980. As technology advances, we get to enjoy better features.

A lot of features are equipped in the Lynk & Co 05 can’t be found even in a Mercedes-Benz or BMW for its price range. Features like HUD display, adaptive cruise control are only available in the high-end models for most German cars.

  1. Comfort

I can tell Lynk & Co made an effort into designing the interior of the Lynk & Co. Nappa leather and Alcantara covers large areas of the interior, giving the car a premium feel. Also, the 05 has Infiniti sound system with 10 speakers and RGB ambient lighting.

  1. Design

Design is a subjective thing. I love the exterior design of the Lynk & Co 05. I think this design language gives the car a unique and sporty look.

I have been driving the Lynk & Co 05 for a few days now, and I absolutely enjoyed it. One thing I have to complain about is its factory-issued tyres, as it makes a lot of noise while driving. Also, the infotainment system can be a little laggy at times, but I believe Lynk & Co will one day fix it with an update since it's an Andriod-based system.

Steering wheel feels premium with leather wrapping.

The bucket seats aren't just sporty, but they are comfy as well.

I love the leather and Alcantara seats with red stitching.

360-degree Panoramic Camera

Wireless Charging

Digital instrument cluster with GPS.

Head-room can be a little uncomfortable due to its sloping rear shape.

I love the chrome door handles, it gives off a premium look.

Boot space with 60/40 folding rear seats.

Driving Experience

Since I have only picked up the Lynk & Co 05 for a few days, I can only share my first impressions with you guys. The Lynk & Co 05 has 4 different driving modes: Economy, Comfort, Sport, and Off-road. I mainly used Comfort driving in the city. In Comfort mode, the transmission and the engine work together harmoniously. The throttle responds instantly when you step foot on it.

Conclusion

I think this is the best car to buy for its price range. I paid CNY 210,000 for this car, which is about the equivalent of RM 120,000. I couldn’t find another car that has a better powertrain and features around that price range. All in all, I am willing to try new things, even if it doesn't live up to my expectations. But the Lynk & Co 05 has lived up to mine's.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr
