Ford-powered JMC Vigus Pro launched in Malaysia, Hilux rival priced at RM 98,888

Tan Chong Group’s subsidiary Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM) has launched the JMC Vigus Pro pick-up truck in Malaysia. Only one variant is offered at launch and it is locally-assembled (CKD) at ETCM's facility in Serendah. ATM aims to sell 350 units of the Vigus Pro from today until the end of the year.

Priced from RM 98,888, the Malaysian-spec JMC Vigus Pro gets a 2.0-litre Ford-sourced turbodiesel that cranks out 141 PS and 340 Nm, hooked up to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. It also gets a part-time four-wheel drive system, replete with a low-range transfer box.

Dimension-wise, the JMC Vigus Pro measures 5,305 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,835 mm tall – putting it squarely within rivals like the Mitsubishi Triton and Toyota Hilux. In fact, its 3,085 mm long wheelbase is similar to the Toyota Hilux.

Standard equipment on the Vigus Pro include automatic projector halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), power-adjustable side mirrors with heater, automatic wipers, as well as speed-sensing automatic door locks.

Inside, there's an eight-inch infotainment display with USB and Bluetooth connectivity (sorry, no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support), four speakers, fabric upholstery, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

As for safety, it gets ABS, EBD, stability control, hill start assist (HSA), hill descent control (HDC), and dual airbags. It also features an all-round disc brake system.

The Malaysian-spec JMC Vigus Pro gets the choice of four body colours – Brilliant Silver, Steady Brown, Glossy Black, and Solid White.

It is backed by a 3-year / 100,000-km warranty, whichever comes first.
