GWM Tank 300 Hybrid Concept Car debuts in Thailand, next hybrid for ASEAN?

Great Wall Motors (GWM) may have introduced a host of new models in recent times, but they aren’t slowing down one bit.

At the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), GWM showcased the Tank 300 Hybrid Concept Car, their latest petrol-electric hybrid (HEV) model.

As the name suggests, the GWM Tank 300 HEV will be powered by a petrol-electric HEV system, combining a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, allowing for a combined system output of 245 PS and 380 Nm. A 9-speed automatic transmission is the sole option.

With the HEV system in place, GWM said that the Tank 300 HEV can complete the century sprint in just 7.9 seconds.

While GWM did preview the Tank 300 Hybrid at last year’s Shanghai Auto Show, this particular hybrid SUV has yet to go on sale in its home market.

According to GWM’s press release, the Tank 300 Hybrid “is outstanding for its classic design with a perfect mix of ruggedness, luxury and modern convenience.”

Elliot Zhang, President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN said, “Today, we are thrilled to present the TANK 300 HEV Concept Car for the first time in Thailand for consumers to witness its classic off-road styling and powerful performance, a perfect fit for adventurous urbanites.”
