Over 3k units of 2022 Honda HR-V sold in Indonesia under 2 weeks, RS Turbo waiting list until July

Talk about a rousing success and the 2022 Honda HR-V is often mentioned in the same breath – a point proven once again by the latest generation in Indonesia, where over 3,400 units of the model have been sold in just under two weeks since its launch there, reports our sister site Autofun.co.id.

Scenes from the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 sees crowds thronging to the HR-V

Though that's all fine and dandy, the chip shortage has put local distributors PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) in a bit of pickle in terms of deliveries. The result is a long waiting list, headlined by the range-topping RS Turbo variant which customers will have to wait for until July 2022.

RS turbo variant sports dual-tailpipes

Other variants see a waiting list until June, though the base variant (1.5 S) is readily available. In terms of volume, the naturally-aspirated (NA) variants outsell the turbocharged RS.

Indonesia's HR-V SE

Yusak Billy, HPM's Business Innovation, Sales, and Marketing Director said that "50 to 54 percent of HR-V bookings are for the SE variant, contributing to more than half of the model's sales.

The SE is the highest variant available that's naturally-aspirated, which is seen as the most value-for-money variant. Just below that is the RS Turbo", Billy explained.

Indonesia launched the all-new HR-V late last month, debuting the world's first HR-V RS Turbo at the same time. Though prices went up by as much as 14% (the range is now IDR 355.9 mil (~RM 105k, 1.5 S) to IDR 499.9 mil (~RM 147k, RS Turbo), this also equates to a longer spec-sheet that includes standard Honda Sensing.

Malaysians, naturally, have been abuzz about this model too. It'll be Honda Malaysia's next launch in the country, slated to happen sometime in the second half of this year (H2 2022). Just don't book it through unofficial channels in the meantime...
